AAT #007 (09-19-08): New York

In anticipation of our 2009 long weekend in NYC, we pulled from our vast collection songs and bands associated with the city of New York. I don’t know how “Heat Wave” snuck in from Detroit, Scroobius Pip from across the Atlantic or Gal Costa from Brazil, but what the heck, there’s always a ringer or two in each Argyll. Dang, there’s Mahmoud Ahmed too. Lots of ringers in this show.

Ironically, this podcast lasted nearly four hours, and yet we could have played another four hours of New York-related songs and bands easily…

The UB spirit was in the house, as the sound collages make clear. Andy Warhol, Little Edie Beale, Timothy “Speed” Levitch, Richard Price, Pepper Labeija and other NYC luminaries contribute spoken word throughout the show.
